Summer 2008

The 29th Annual NC Quilt Symposium, "Quilting By The Sea" was held on May 29- June 1, 2008 on the campus of UNC-Wilmington. The show was sponsored by NCQSI and the Quilters By  The Sea Guild with almost 50% of the guild volunteering to work.  The beautiful new Burney Center was the perfect location for the quilt show, most lectures, the opening ceremony and the Best Beach Cover-up Show.  More than 300 quilters enjoyed classes and lectures during five class/lecture sessions, evening entertainment with music from Beach Music Barbershop Quartet, and vendor booths.  An original raffle quilt was made and given, with love, by Anne Francis of Fayetteville.

Symposium lecturers and instructors for 2008 included  Frieda Anderson, Judi Blaydon, Carol Blevins, Susan Brittingham, Augusta Cole, Sally Collins, Jo Diggs, Cynthia England, Ann Fahl, Judi Gunter, Jane Hall, Roberta Horton, Fran Kordek, Phyllis Miller, Marti Michell, Scott Murkin, Andy Perejda, Jane Sassaman, Cathy Wiggins, and Joen Wolfram.
